Young Engineer Course

Course Overview

Introduction to Valve Technology

The program commences with an in-depth introduction to valve technology. Participants will gain a comprehensive overview of various valve types, including gate, globe, check, ball, and butterfly valves. They will learn about the basic principles of valve operation and selection criteria, as well as an overview of design codes and standards relevant to valve technology. Interactive sessions are integrated to encourage active participation and enhance understanding.

Valve Selection & Specification

This module delves into the details of valve selection. Participants will explore the fundamental principles of valve selection, considering factors such as medium characteristics (temperature, pressure, corrosivity, viscosity), operating conditions (flow rate, velocity, frequency of operation), and system requirements (leak-tightness, durability, cost). Detailed explanations of valve specification parameters and their significance in valve selection will be provided. Real-world case studies will illustrate the valve selection process, highlighting potential challenges and solutions. The importance of valve data sheets and specification writing will be emphasized, along with common mistakes and strategies to avoid them. Interactive sessions will reinforce learning and encourage discussion.

Advanced Valve Design & Special Applications

The program advances to explore cutting-edge technologies in valve design. Participants will
be introduced to computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, structural optimization, and new material applications, and how they enhance valve performance and reliability. Special attention will be given to valve selection and design considerations for extreme operating conditions (high temperature, high pressure, strong corrosion, flammable/explosive environments) or specialized applications (nuclear power, aerospace, deep-sea exploration). Success stories of customized valve designs will be shared, showcasing how to meet specific customer requirements and the advantages of customized valves in addressing complex operating challenges.

Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Refurbishment

Best practices in valve maintenance, troubleshooting, and refurbishment will be covered in this module. Participants will learn about common valve problems and their solutions, maintenance schedules and procedures, and refurbishment techniques and recertification processes. Interactive sessions will provide opportunities for participants to apply their knowledge and receive feedback.

Valve Package Management/Valve Order Handling

The program concludes with a focus on valve package management and valve order handling. Participants will learn about the principles of valve packaging design, material selection, packaging methods, and precautions during transportation to ensure valves arrive undamaged. The entire order processing flow, from receipt, confirmation, production scheduling, quality inspection, to shipping, will be introduced, with strategies for optimizing the process for improved customer satisfaction and efficiency. Supplier booth visits and interactions will be organized, allowing participants to learn about suppliers’ products, technologies, and services, laying the foundation for future procurement and collaboration
